GB Selections

British Rafting are the body responsible for selecting the teams to represent Great Britain at the International Rafting Federation European and World Championships.

British Rafting National Selection Policy 2017
The British Rafting National Selection Policy 2017 is now ratified and published. The Selection Policy includes the Eligibility Policy and the Appeals Policy.

British Rafting National Selection event:
Holme Pierrepont National Water Sports Centre, Adbolton Lane, Nottingham
11 & 12 March 2017
R6 race format (International Rafting Federation Rules apply)

Competition will take place in Sprint, Head-to-Head, Slalom and Downriver (Endurance).
Team GB selection will be ratified by the British Rafting International Selection Panel who will announce their decision within 48 hours of the competition closing (or sooner).

Subject to adherence with the British Rafting National Selection Policy 2017:

  • the top two teams in each age category will represent Great Britain at the European Championship
  • the top team in each category will represent Great Britain at the World Rafting Championship

At the point of event registration (Friday, 10th and Saturday, 11th March), each team member must be able to prove their identity and eligibility to represent Great Britain. 
In order to be eligible to represent Great Britain, each team member must be either a UK citizen or permanent resident for the last three years (and not have competed for any other (non-GB) national rafting team within that time). 
Each team member must also be willing and able to be a British Canoeing member if their team is selected to represent Great Britain – membership of British Canoeing is mandatory before departing for either/or European or World Championships. 

Team (six competitors plus substitute or coach/manager) tickets include:

  • Competitor place in all race categories
  • Camping onsite at Holme Pierrepont
  • Tea/coffee/snacks on Saturday and Sunday
  • Saturday evening meal and entertainment / party entrance
  • Team prizes

Supporter (additional squad members, coaches, managers, parents etc) tickets include:

  • Camping onsite at Holme Pierrepont
  • Tea/coffee/snacks on Saturday and Sunday
  • Saturday evening meal and entertainment / party entrance

Alternative non-camping accommodation options are available locally. No discounts on ticket price(s) are offered if alternative accommodation is sought/taken.
