British Rafting National Selection event for the 2019 European Championship (venue & dates tbc) and World Championship (Australia, 13-20 May 2019) Selection runs on Saturday, 08th and Sunday, 09th December 2018.
British Rafting National Selection event for the 2019 European Championship (venue & dates tbc) and World Championship (Australia, 13-20 May 2019)
Selection runs on Saturday, 08th and Sunday, 09th December 2018. Registration will open in October 2018.
Competition will follow International Rafting Federation (IRF) race rules.
Competition will take place in Sprint, Head-to-Head, Slalom and Downriver (Endurance).
Team GB selection will be ratified by the British Rafting International Selection Panel who will announce their decision within 48 hours of the competition closing (or sooner).
Subject to adherence with the British Rafting National Selection Policy 2019 (will be published late Summer):
- the top two teams in each age category will represent Great Britain at the European Championship
- the top team in each category will represent Great Britain at the World Rafting Championship (Australia, 13-20 May 2019)
What’s included in the ticket price?
Team (four competitors plus substitute or coach/manager) tickets include:
- Competitor place in all race categories
- Saturday evening meal
Supporter (additional team members, coaches, managers, supporters, parents etc) tickets include:
- Saturday evening meal
There is no fee to simply attend and watch – Supporter tickets are meant for those wishing to partake in the food/socialising.
No accommodation is provided with any ticket.
Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?
All competitors will need to prove their identity including their age at event registration. For clarity: U19, U23 and Masters must be within the age category at the date of European/World competition. Age is taken to be the age that the team member turns in the year of competition.
Do I need to bring identification documents?
Yes, all competitors must provide proof of age (valid passport, drivers’ licence, birth certificate)
If you are an international team or team who do not wish to be considered for selection, you only need to provide proof of age
ALL competitors competing to be considered for selection, MUST provide proof of eligibility along with proof of their current (valid) British Canoeing membership.
What documents are acceptable to prove eligibility to represent GB?
For those competing as a UK citizen, a current (valid) UK Passport is the only identification document acceptable. Photocopies/scans are not acceptable
For those competing as UK permanent residents, valid (current) national identifcation documentation AND proof of residency is required
For all competitors being considered for selection, a currrent (valid) British Canoeing membership card or receipt for payment for such (email on mobile device is acceptable)
What if I’m not already a British Canoeing member – can I get it after selections?
For those teams competing to be considered for selection, each team member must be a current British Canoeing member at the selection event and keep their membership valid throughout the race year. Failure to do so will result in their team losing any GB selection status (if awarded)

What happens if I forget my proof of eligibility (passport, proof of residency or British Canoeing membership)?
You must still register at the event registration and notify the Event Director immediately. You will have until the awarding of the prizes on the Sunday (10th March) to provide any missing documentation.
After this time, it will not possible to prove eligibility and your team will forfeit any consideration for selection.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking on site at Lee Valley White Water Centre is included within designated parking areas – please do not park anywhere that is not clearly designated as a parking area.
Closest National Rail is Cheshunt and Waltham Cross.
What’s the refund policy?
Tickets are non-refundable
